ALIA Queensland is a member group providing and supporting professional development opportunities for ALIA members in Queensland. 

The committee members are:


Kim Lewin, ALIA QLD Convenor

Kim is currently employed as the Associate Director, Library at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane. Her career encompasses academic, state and TAFE libraries. 

Kim's interests include designing better user experiences, space and design, educational technology, and workplace learning. Kim is passionate about quality customer service and ensuring that equitable services are provided to all. She is a highly organised and dedicated person with a positive attitude. Kim has the ability to think strategically, in a non-linear and holistic way and thrives on working in a challenging environment.  



Fiona Miles, Treasurer

Fiona has been employed with Logan City Council Libraries & Cultural Services for near 9 years as a Customer Support Officer - MultiMedia. In 2014 she completed QUT's Masters in Information Technology, Libraries & Information Science.  Since completing her degree she has been actively relieving in the Digital Services Librarian role when available. Fiona has a strong technical and secretarial/personal assistant background stemming from two previous careers prior to entering the library and information sector. Fiona is keen in making a difference (where possible) for all ​that encompasses Libraries by learning from each other through partnerships and collaboration that enable the sharing of knowledge and transferable skills.  


Dr. Elham Sayyad Abdi


Elham is an associate lecturer in the Information Systems School, Queensland University of Technology (QUT). She is a member of QUT’s Information Studies Group, a research team with a focus on people’s information experiences. Being a qualitative researcher, Elham’s research interest lies in information literacy, how it can be enabled, specifically within an everyday life context.

Elham has a Library and Information Science background and has been an active member of the Library and Information profession. She is a committee member of the Australian Library and Information Association, Queensland and, at an international level, the secretary for the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T), Asia-Pacific Chapter. She has also served on the organising and program committee of several local and international conferences and symposiums.
